New Delhi: Delhi-NCR and entire northern states are experiencing an unusually warm November this year. After witnessing the hottest October in 73 years, the region is going through a warmer November too. According to the weatherman, the primary reason for this strange season pattern is the direction of wind.Usually, after monsoon starts residing, the wind pattern changes from Eastern and Southern Eastern to Western and Northern Western. But this change did not occur for the first 12 days in November. It's only in the last two days when the wind direction changed to North and Northern western.This change in pattern is responsible for cooler winds, therefore bringing down the maximum temperature, which is only happened in the last two days, specifically after November 12.Delhi-NCR sees highest maximum temperature since 2015Since the wind patterns did not change for the first 12 days, the region experienced warmer days than usual. It is after 2015, when the maximum temperature did not drop below 30 degree celsius. However, on Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 27.8 degress, while minimum was 17, which is 3 degrees above normal.The maximum temperature was hovering around 32.6 degrees till November 12. But since the wind direction did not change in October and early November, the Delhi-NCR region did not experience typically 'severe' category AQI. It's only in the past two days when the wind directions changed, the region now is seeing a sudden increase in AQI as stubble burning residue from Pakistan , Punjab and Haryana coupled with westerly winds are causing smog blanket over the region.
