WATCH | Worm found in IndiGo passenger's sandwich sparks concern
Public health professional recounted a troubling incident during her IndiGo flight from Delhi to Mumbai, labeling it her "most unpleasant experience."
Public health professional and dietician Kushboo Gupta recounted a troubling incident during her IndiGo flight from Delhi to Mumbai, labeling it her "most unpleasant experience" with the airline. On the morning of December 29, Gupta received a pre-booked vegetarian sandwich along with her flight ticket. Much to her dismay, she made a shocking discovery as she bit into the sandwich—a live worm was wriggling in the food.
Taking to her Instagram, she posted a video documenting the disturbing scene, expressing her disappointment with the compromised food quality and service standards of the airline. The situation worsened as the flight attendant allegedly responded casually to Gupta's concerns. Despite being made aware of the issue, she claimed that the attendant continued distributing sandwiches to other passengers, including children and the elderly, heightening concerns about potential health risks.
“I immediately rushed or conveyed her after consuming one bite but all she said ‘I will replace it with some other thing.’ I will bring it to department notice and later came with a goodie which I refused to take. I didn’t want to create a panic situation. But her first action should have been to make other passengers aware so that they make an informed decision of consuming the sandwich or not,” she explained in her post
“I will lodge an official complain via email soon,” she added.
In her capacity as a public health professional, Gupta raised concerns about the choice to serve the sandwiches despite awareness of their questionable quality. She contended that a straightforward announcement could have safeguarded passengers from potential infections.
