The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway is set to improve connectivity in Uttar Pradesh, linking 22 districts across a span of 700 kilometers.
Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway: A new expressway construction project is under consideration in Uttar Pradesh, connecting Gorakhpur to Shamli. This greenfield expressway, approximately 700 kilometers long, will link eastern Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur with western UP's Shamli, passing through 22 districts. The construction of this expressway is expected to benefit a significant population in the state, enhancing connectivity across Uttar Pradesh. Following the Ganga Expressway and the Gorakhpur Family Expressway, this initiative will help solidify the state’s reputation for robust infrastructure.
Currently, there are plans in progress for the Ganga Expressway, which will be approximately 1,000 kilometers long, making it the longest in the state. The first phase of the expressway, connecting Meerut to Prayagraj, is seeing expedited construction, while the second phase, linking Prayagraj to Ballia, has also begun.
New Expressway: Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway
The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway, second longest expressway in the state has been prepared by the NHAI. It will connect 22 districts between Gorakhpur and Shamli, facilitating increased vehicle speed throughout the region. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this plan is currently being prepared, after which a complete blueprint will be unveiled.
Connection via Barabanki
The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway will pass through a substantial part of Barabanki, covering nearly 50 kilometers of the district. Barabanki has been identified as a crucial area within the Lucknow State Capital Region, making this expressway project particularly significant. Similar to the Agra-Lucknow and Purvanchal Expressways, this new route will also include facilities for fighter aircraft take-offs and landings in emergency situations.
