Karnataka: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to purchase 1,600 thermos bottles for their drivers. The corporation has reported that most of the accidents happen in the morning hours between 3 to 4 am. To safeguard the drivers and the vehicles they have announced the procurement of 1,600 thermos bottles, each having a capacity of 500 ml.

The KSRTC believes that these thermos flasks, that can store tea, will play a pivotal role in preventing drivers from drowsiness and it can enhance the overall road safety.

Bus drivers have demanding schedules especially those who drive at night time, and it can lead to exhaustion and also reduced alertness while driving. Having tea during the breaks can help you to be active and stay focused on the road. These flasks have a capacity of 500 ml designed to hold enough amount of tea to keep the driver alert on the road. The post has gone viral on social media and has got more than 54,000 views on X.

X users replied with their views on this matter and one of them said, “They really deserve more. Thankless job. Only need their attention at boarding and alighting commutes at proper bus stops will set an example to other states also.”

Another one said, “Are we saying that the drivers don’t take care of themselves? If airline pilots are checked for alcohol consumption, why can’t we do the same for our transport drivers?”

The thermos flasks are supposed to be distributed in the upcoming weeks and the corporation hopes that this will reduce the accidents during the identified high-risk hours.
