We always dream of winning a lottery worth a million and living the rest of our life like a royal, but often, luck is not on our side.

But this couple from the United States who have won around $26 million (Rs.216 Crore) in lottery. The couple Jerry at 80 and Marge Selbee at 81used to run a little shop in Evart until they sold it and stopped working when they were in their 60s.

In 2003, Mr. Selbee found out about a lottery game called Winfall. And with his good skill in math, he calculated that if the jackpot reached $26 million and wasn't won, the money would go to people with fewer winning numbers. By this he figured out an easy way to win the lottery prizes.

Jerry discovered that the Winfall game has a loophole in game rules. If no one won the jackpot each week, the prize money would grow. It kept going up until it reached $26 million. When it got to that amount and no one got all six numbers right, the prize would be shared among the people who had most of the winning numbers on their tickets.

Mr. Selbee calculated that by investing $1,100 in 1,100 tickets, he could likely secure one four-number win worth $1,000, and a minimum of 18 or 19 three-number wins, each paying $900. This meant his $1,100 investment would result in a $1,900 return, leaving him with a neat profit of $800.

Their story is now the inspiration for the movie “Jerry & Marge Go Large.”
