Even though internships with top tech companies at the Scaler School of Technology (SST) were supposed to start in 2025, 10 percent of their first Computer Science batch has already been picked up by Bengaluru-based E-commerce start-up, Dukaan. The start-up recently conducted a successful internship drive at Scaler, where Subhash, the CTO of Dukaan, presented an interactive and challenging internship hackathon for over 60 students, out of which 21 students secured theirs.

According to Scaler’s new-age learning methodologies and curriculum, this opportunity will be a part of the students' mandatory 1-year internship. If a student performs exceptionally well during the internship, it can also lead to a pre-placement offer at the respective company.

Subhash, who had previously visited SST in December 2023, returned to conduct the internship hackathon on campus. “Generally, we don’t expect very high as they are interns and not 5 years senior people in engineering. When I actually went there with an assignment, I surprisingly saw that everyone had already worked on projects that we had asked them to build. What we asked was not something easy,” Subhash added.

Challenge to bag the internship
The students were asked to build an actual AI chatbot that can help a business owner who’s supposedly a hotelier to help customers with real-time availability of rooms and to help them book the entire property on WhatsApp or via the chatbot.
The students had to fetch the availability of rooms in real-time by building APIs and using those APIs to not only provide relevant information to the customers but also create bookings. Despite the complexity of the assignment, the students demonstrated technical proficiency and innovative problem-solving skills. “Every student I spoke with at SST successfully accomplished it. I was quite surprised,” remarked Subhash.

About Scaler School of Technology
Scaler School of Technology was founded by Anshuman Singh, an IIIT Hyderabad graduate who previously worked under Mark Zuckerberg at Facebook. After returning to India in 2014, Singh identified a significant gap in engineering education and founded Scaler to address this issue. Initially focusing on upskilling engineers from service-based companies, Scaler has grown to train over 40,000 engineers with remarkable placement outcomes—an average placement of 21 lakhs and the highest package reaching 1.7 crores.

SST’s Unique Approach
Scaler offers a unique 4-year UG program in computer science. Unlike traditional Btech programs, SST’s curriculum focuses on new-age skills and industry relevance. It provides students with hands-on practical learning experiences led by industry professionals like Flipkart Co-Founder Binny Bansal, Zomato Founder Deepinder Goyal, etc. The program also includes a mandatory 1-year paid internship, ensuring students are job-ready from day one.
