Reforestation Efforts Gain Momentum as a Viable Solution to Curb Heat Waves
Kesari Infrabuild Private Limited (KIPL), a company that has embraced sustainable development as a core principle, is leading the charge in this crucial effort.
In the busy cities and industrial areas of India, a silent crisis has been happening—one that threatens the very fabric of the nation's rich biodiversity and natural heritage. Excessive tree cutting and deforestation, driven by rapid urbanisation and industrialisation, have disrupted nature's delicate balance, leaving a trail of environmental damage behind.
The consequences of this crisis are clear and far-reaching. Rising temperatures and prolonged heat waves have caused many deaths, while pollution levels continue to rise, casting a haze over once-clear skies. This reality can no longer be ignored, as the future of the nation depends on addressing this urgent challenge.
Yet, amidst the gloom, a ray of hope emerges – a solution rooted in the ancient wisdom of the land, one that recognising the interconnectedness of all life and the importance of nurturing the natural world. This solution is planting new trees to combat deforestation and ease the effects of climate change.
Kesari Infrabuild Private Limited (KIPL), a company that has embraced sustainable development as a core principle, is leading the charge in this crucial effort.
“We believe sustainable infrastructure development is the only imperative we are left with, which means economic progress and environmental conservation must go hand-in-hand," said Minal Srinivasan, Managing Director of KIPL. “As part of the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Restoration vertical, KIPL undertakes afforestation, wetland restoration, and reforestation services. Under this initiative, we have planted over 2,50,000 trees to create oxygen pockets across various regions of the country.
She further adds, “Afforestation services significantly mitigate environmental challenges such as soil erosion, carbon sequestration, heat island impacts and many more which are prevalent in metro cities, due to rapid urbanisation. Enhancing the green cover of urban spaces also helps meet the city-level Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of sustainable cities and communities (11), good health and well-being (3) and Climate action (13 )”
Recognising that true transformation cannot be achieved by merely building monuments at the expense of greenery, KIPL has taken a holistic approach, striking a balance between development and environmental preservation.
As the nation grapples with the devastating consequences of climate change, such as the recent heat waves and the highest temperature like 40-45 degrees Celsius in India. KIPL's actions serve as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that businesses can play a vital role in addressing environmental challenges while pursuing growth and development.
— a future where the harmonious coexistence of development and nature is not merely a dream but a reality within our grasp.
