Wall hanging: Make these quirky yet statement decor pieces with ease

There are tonnes of craft ideas available to decorate your place. A wall hanging is one such idea as it instantly livens up a room and ups the creativity of a space. It can make any bland wall look pretty and give out a charming vibe. You can hang it in your living room or the kitchen to create a cosy, homely ambience. You can use materials lying waste around your house or things readily available to make one.

Supplies Required

• Cardboard
• Glue
• A lot of newspapers
• Paint
• Ribbon
• Chart Paper

Instructions

1. Take a lot of newspapers and fold individual sheets 1cm wide to make strips. You can make 50-60 such strips.
2. Secure the ends with glue.
3. Roll the strips towards the breadth to make coils of the newspaper. It is desirable if the coils are of different sizes.
4. Glue them and leave to dry.
5. Cut a heart shape out of cardboard measuring 12X12 inches. This would be the base for the coils.
6. Paint it with black paint or any colour of your choice.
7. Paste the coils on the cardboard heart using glue. Make sure there are enough coils to fill up the whole base.
8. Paint all the coils with white acrylic paint and leave to dry.
9. After drying, paint each coil with different colours of your choice. You can even go for a pattern.
10. Now take a red square chart paper measuring 10X10 inches in size and cut a heart shape out of it.
11. Write any message or quote of your choice on it.
12. Stick the red cut-out in the centre of the cardboard heart previously made. Use two-way tape to give it a raised effect
13. Cut out 3-4 small hearts measuring 4X4 inches from the same red chart paper. Measure and cut out cardboard bases for them each.
14. Paste a red ribbon or thread behind each of these small hearts and paste them on the rear side of the biggest heart (paper coil one) so that they dangle from it.
15. Make a ribbon loop at the top of the biggest heart for hanging.

There are unlimited ways to make a wall hanging, but this one falls intensely on the personal side, as you can write messages or quotes of your choice. Be as creative as you want with the colour and messages. You can add glitter and pearls on the outlines of the hearts to define the shape better. You can even write quotes about friends or family and gift them- a handmade gift is always appreciated.
