Popular public libraries in Delhi

1. British Council Library:

The library, located in Connaught Place, is an iconic building designed by Charles Correa. The British Council Library of Delhi is often visited by people who enjoy reading and cultural events. This library is considered as one of the best libraries in Delhi. Here, the collection includes fiction and non-fiction books by British authors. Magazines and newspapers are also a part of their collection. If you are a member of the library, you can get access to films and theatre recordings.

2. Delhi Public Library:

This library has been established under the Ministry of Culture and is governed by the Delhi Library Board.  The Indian Government finances the Delhi Public Library. The Delhi Public Library is known to offer free library services to all the folks who wish to access this public library in Delhi. The Delhi Public Library in Janakpuri is one of the most visited and chosen libraries in Delhi.

3. Sahitya Akademi Library:

Sahitya Akademi Library is one of the most significant multi-lingual libraries in India. It contains a rich collection of books on literature and allied subjects in 24 languages recognised by the Sahitya Akademi. The library is also well-known for its vast collection of books on literary theories, women's studies, cultural histories and translation studies. Its expert collections include publications by Rabindranath Tagore, Sri Aurobindo and Mahatma Gandhi.

4. Dyal Singh Public Library:

Dyal Singh Public Library is one of the most prominent libraries in Delhi. The library has a collection of over 40,000 books of National and International repute mainly in English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. The main subject areas that the library focuses on are Literature, Social Sciences, History, International Relations, Management, InformationTechnology and Philosophy. It also includes a wide spectrum of collection in other fields of knowledge.
