This book was made into a film which received tremendous critical acclaim all around the world. The writer Michael Ondaatje has a unique style of writing, which makes reading the book much more interesting. The story revolves around a nurse who spends her time in service of the wounded soldiers. The story is set during the Second World War.

This novel has a sort of dark twisted humour to it. The story revolves around a woman named Iris, who is now old and spends her time ruminating over the death of her sister. The story is carried forward and tells us about, how her sister formed a cult which led to her tragic demise.
Life of Pi by Yann Martel

This another book which was made into a successful film, that received global praise. The story is about a young boy surviving on a boat. This young boy is accompanied by a tiger, they both only have each other amidst the vast ocean. The story hay uses many religious metaphors to explain the novel better. It is the unlikely companionship between the tiger and the boy that keeps the reader captivated to the story.
Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie

This novel was widely popular and won in 1981, however in 1993 it was considered to be the ‘Booker of all Bookers’, meaning the best novel to have won the Booker Prize. The book revolves around the story of Saleem Sinai, who gains telepathic power which he uses to connect with a thousand other equally powerful children. This book was extremely popular and was appreciated for its writing world wide.
