One of the most renowned comic books 'Asterix', is all set to take its fans by surprise as the first four albums of the series are being co-translated to be released in Hindi.
French Ambassador to India, Alexandre Ziegler released the first four albums in Hindi, titled 'Asterix: Gaulwasi Asterix'; 'Asterix: Sone ki Darati'; 'Asterix: Asterix aur Gawthwasi'; 'Asterix: Asterix Talwarbaz' on Wednesday, March 27.
"It's an immense pleasure to release the first four Asterix albums in Hindi. Their stories are an opportunity for the readers to get a glimpse of the history of the figures' country of origin," he said.
Further congratulating the translators for taking up the challenge to translate the comic, he said, "making the humor and stories accessible in another language and culture is no easy feat."
Taking to Twitter, Alexandre Ziegler wrote that he is thrilled to release the four rib-tickling Asterix albums in Hindi:
Talking about the adventures and antics of the French comic heroes - Asterix and Obelix, the French Ambassador also said that the characters have been timelessly embodying French spirit and a portion of its heritage.
As per sources, the translators of the series disclosed that they found it extremely challenging to blend all the songs and jokes of the comic, keeping in mind the intricacies of the French culture. They further added saying they also had to be mindful while translating as every language has its own aural space with one size not fitting in every bit.
Launched in 1959, Asterix and Obelix along with a group of Gallic villagers use their brain and brawn into resisting the Roman occupants from taking over their village in the series.
