Chhath Puja is a four-day long auspicious Hindu festival held annually to pay reverence to Lord Surya and sister Chhathi Maya, the sixth avatar of Devi Prakriti. The religious festivities are slated to begin from November 5 till November 8. During, this period women are known to fast without water and provide offerings to Usha and Pratyusha, whilst staying afoot on a river body.

While this festival is known to celebrated with great pomp and show in Bihar, the festivities are equally grand in certain cities of Uttar Pradesh from Allahabad to Varanasi. The festival is usually celebrated on sixth day of Kartika, the lunar month, six days after Deepavali celebrations. Chhath Puja 2024: Varanasi's Dashashwamedh Ghat, Kedar Ghat

If you find yourself in Varanasi, during Chhath Puja celebration, make sure to visit the iconic ghats from Kedar Ghat to  Dashashwamedh Ghat, situated in one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities. On 5th November, which is Day 1 of Chhath Puja in 2024, the sunrise timing is 6:35 AM, and sunset timing is 4:53 PM. The following day Lohanda rituals are performed with the sunset taking place at 6:37 AM and sunset on 4:51 PM. On the final day, which falls on November 8, Usha Arghya is observed. The sunrise timing for this day is 6:38 AM, and sunset falls at 4:50 PM. 

Varanasi's Dashashwamedh Ghat, Kedar Ghat
