Kartik Purnima is a sacred Hindu festival which is filled with divine energy and spiritual importance. It is observed on the full moon day in the month of Kartik. Taking a bath in Ganga and other holy water on this day is considered auspicious. This year Kartik Purnima falls on Novemeber 15 i.e. Friday.

The moonrise on a full moon day begins at 5:00 pm; the Purnima Tithi starts on November 15, 2024, at 6:19 am and the Full moon date ends on November 16, 2024, at 2:58 am.

Significance

As per Drik Panchang, “Many devotees take a pledge to take a bath in the Ganga and other holy rivers every day during the month of Kartik."

On Kartik Purnima, devotees worship Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. It is also a day to commemorate the victory of Lord Shiva's victory over the demon Tripurasura, which is why Kartik Purnima is also called Tripuri Purnima and Tripurari Purnima, as per Drik Panchang.
