Cabbage is a leafy green, red, or white biennial vegetable. Cabbage provides many health benefits. It helps in preventing constipation, stomach ulcers, diabetes, skin conditions, etc. Cabbage can sometimes be a boring dish, so here are a few delicious cabbage recipes that you can try to stay healthy without resorting to one same old recipe.

Sauteed cabbage
Ingredients
- 1 small head white cabbage
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1-1/2 teaspoons of kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Cut the cabbage in halt and slice it around the centre as thinly as possible with the cut-side down.
- Melt the butter over medium-high heat in a large saute pan.
- Add the cabbage, salt, and pepper and saute for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Stir every 2 minutes until the cabbage is tender and turns brown.
Fried cabbage
Ingredients
- Cut 5-6 thick bacon strips into small pieces
- 1/3 cup of onion finely chopped
- ½ head green cabbage shredded or roughly chopped
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- Salt
- Pepper
- ¼ tablespoon of smoked paprika
Instructions
- Cook bacon over medium heat in a non-stick pan until it is crisp. To remove the bacon, use a slotted spatula and put it on the table.
- Add onion and cook until translucent in the same saucepan.
- Add the cabbage, salt, pepper, pepper and paprika and mix together. Cook until cabbage is tender.
- Add the bacon to the pan and mix it with the cabbage and you are ready to go.
Red cabbage with bacon
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large red onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 pounds shredded red cabbage
- 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
- 3 to 4 slices cooked bacon
- 1/2 cup red wine, such as pinot noir or a cabernet
- 1/2 cup chicken stock
- Caraway seeds, about 2 teaspoons
- Kosher salt
Instructions
- Heat oil over medium heat in a big casserole or Dutch oven.
- Add the onions and saute for about three minutes until softened.
- Add garlic, cabbage, vinegar, sugar, pepper, chopped apples, bacon, wine and broth.
- Reduce the heat and cover the pan
- Continue cooking until cabbage is tender, for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Add caraway seeds and salt.
