Tomato chutneys are easy to cook and are super tasty to have with other foods. We have curated a few five-minute recipes that will add a dash of sweet-sour flavour to your meal. Keep reading to know four types of recipes of tomato chutneys.

5 Minute Easy Onion Tomato Chutney:

Ingredient:

  • A handful of Shallot or small onions
  • 4-5 garlic
  • 12-15 red chillies
  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp urad dal
  • 4-5 curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  • Add all the ingredients in the grinder jar and grind it. You will get the thick red paste.
  • Heat the oil in the pan add a tablespoon of mustard, urad dal and few curry leaves.
  • Add a pinch of asafoetida.
  • Add the red thick paste in the pan.
  • Stir it well and cook it for 5 mins on low flame.

Sweet and Spicy Tomato Chutney:

Ingredients:

  • 250 gm, Tomatoes chopped
  • 2-3, dry chillies
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Kalonji /Onion seeds
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Jaggery
  • 1/2 tbsp Hing (asafoetida)
  • Salt as per taste

Method:

  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add Kalonji, dry red chillies, and Hing. Saute for a few seconds.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and salt. Mix well.
  • Cover it and cook it for 3 to 4 minutes on medium flame.
  • Now open the lid, add chilli powder, sugar, and jaggery. Mix very well.
  • Cover it again and cook it for 2 to 3 minutes more.
  • Open the lid and stir once. Again cover it and cook it for 4 to 5 minutes or until it thickens a little bit.
  • Tomato Chutney is ready. Serve it with Paratha, Idli, Dosa, Pakora or use it as the spread on the spread.

Stove-Grilled Tomato Chutney:

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 tomatoes
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • Finely chopped onion, green chillies and coriander
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard Oil (Any oil as you prefer)

Method:

  • Place a grilled pan or netted vessel on the flame directly and roast the tomatoes.
  • Roast the garlic cloves too.
  • Peel the skin from the tomatoes.
  • Mashes the tomatoes and put the past in a bowl.
  • Add chopped onions, green chillies and salt to taste.
  • Chop the roasted garlic cloves and add it to the paste and add coriander as well.
  • Mix it well and add the tablespoon of mustard oil to get a good flavour.
  • Your stove-grilled tomatoes chutney are ready.

Tamarind and Tomato Chutney

Ingredients: -

  • 4 large tomatoes
  • ½ Cup -Imli pulp (Tamarind pulp)
  • ½ Cup jaggery
  • 1 tbsp Kashmiri red Mirchi
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp black salt
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ½ tsp black salt
  • ½ tsp dried ginger powder
  • 1/4 Cup water

Method:

  • In a pot, add tomatoes, jaggery, tamarind pulp, Kashmiri red chilli powder, salt, red chilli powder, black salt, cumin powder, dried ginger powder and water, mix well and bring it to boil, cover and cook on low flame for 12-15 minutes. Let it cool down.
  • In a blender jar, add cooked tomato mixture and blend well.
  • Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
