Italian cuisine has been on high demand in India since the pizza industry stepped in. Majority of the Indians are already familiar with the common Italian dishes like pasta, pizza, risotto, tiramisu, panna cotta and panini sandwich. Even though pizza and pasta still reign the Indian food market as the most consumed Italian dishes, here is a list of items that are equally delicious.
Italian cuisine: Gnocchi
Many variations of pasta are found all over in Italy and gnocchi is one of them. Gnocchi looks like small cylindrical dumplings made up of semolina, potato, wheat flour etc. It's a treat for vegetarian food lovers and is usually eaten as a starter. A gnocchi pasta can have many variations depending on the herbs, seasonings and choice of sauce used.
Italian cuisine: Bruschetta
Bruschetta is also one of the starter dishes in Italian cuisine made with just three main ingredients, i.e., bread, garlic and olive oil. The toasted sliced bread is prepped with rubbing garlic and olive oil over it and is served by placing diced fresh tomatoes with basil, beans, vegetables, cured meat or simply just cheese on top of it.
Italian cuisine: Ravioli
Ravioli can be called as stuffed pasta as its made by filling stuffings inside the pasta dough. The pasta dough is then blanched and then added into the sauce or broth. Traditionally ravioli was available in the square shapes. But recently circular, rectangular, semi-circular shapes have also been found which make it visually appealing as well as appetising in taste. A single large-sized ravioli is called as raviolo.

Panzanella is an Italian salad made by bread, tomatoes, and onions as the main ingredient. Usually, olive oil and vinegar are used as a salad dressing. It is a summer salad and is enjoyed alongside a chilling drink. The number of ingredients in Panzanella usually depends on the location of where it is made and is a healthy salad that the health freaks will thoroughly enjoy.
Italian dishes: Spaghetti
Spaghetti is one of the staple foods in Italy and looks like the Asian noodles although it is mostly thicker than noodles and is authentically made from durum wheat semolina. Nowadays, spaghetti is also made with other kinds of flour like multi-grain or whole wheat flour as well. It but is mixed with sauce, seasonings, and number of items depending on the menu.
