A diet is the most important thing if you workout. What you eat before a workout is as crucial to maintaining your diet as what you eat after a workout. Here are a few healthy food items to eat before your workout.

Pre-workout meals 

  • Bananas

Bananas are packed with carbohydrates and potassium. It is also known as the natural power bar. Bananas support nerve and muscle function.

  • Oats

Oats are filled with fibre and oats release carbohydrates gradually. Oats help to keep energy levels consistent throughout the body. This will also help you train harder. Oats contain Vitamin B which converts carbohydrates into energy. 

  • Grilled Chicken, Broccoli, and Sweet Potato

If you are someone who plans to circuit train or working on building muscle mass, then this is more of a meal than a snack. Professional athletes rely on this majorly for the diet. It helps them stay fit and ensures the energy levels do not go down.

  • Dried Fruit

The most important thing is to keep your self hydrated before even heading to the gym. So consume plenty of water before a good workout. For bodybuilding, concentrate more on consuming a protein-rich diet. Egg whites, fruits like oranges, strawberries or apples are the best source of consuming proteins. For losing your weight, intakes of carbohydrates with a combination of protein will help you. Food items like greek yoghurt, granola, bananas, smoothies are the best energy booster you can have before or even after a workout. For women, including sweet potatoes in your diet is a good option for energy.
