Payasam
Payasam is one of the most popular desserts of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the sweet-dishes that is savoured in the South, regardless of culture and age. This milk treat is made during all auspicious festivals and for occasional indulgences. Payasam has a very similar recipe to that of Kheer. Payasam is made in many flavours. In Tamil Nadu, Jaggery Payasam, Rice Payasam with Coconut Milk, and Orange Pulp Payasam are most commonly cooked.
Coconut Laddoo
Coconut Laddoo is amongst the most delicious Tamil Nadu sweet-dishes. The taste of this dish, as many say, is very similar to the taste of coconut candy. Only grated coconut and sugar is needed to prepare Coconut Laddoos. Coconut and sugar are cooked together first and then made into small Laddoos once the batter cools down. This dish is simply amazing to taste.
Shahi Tukda with Coconut
Shahi Tukda is one of the most loved desserts from Tamil Nadu. As the name suggests, the dish gives a royal touch to our taste buds with every single bite we take. It is prepared by bread slices, where crunchy bread toasts are dipped in yummy condensed milk. This dish is well garnished with grated coconut, aromatic saffron and cardamom along with nuts.
Akkaravadisal (Tamil Style)
Akkaravadisal is also commonly known as Akkara Adisil. This dish is a traditional Iyengar dish. The Tamilians make this dish in their own unique way by using jaggery. That gives the dish a completely different flavour and taste. The texture of the dish is also different. It is a very tasty sweet-dish.
Tamil Mishri Mawa
The power of sweets can never be estimated. Tamil Mishri Mawa is definitely a must-try dish from Tamil Nadu. It is made with solidified milk, mishri, cheese, and chocolate that give it a pleasant taste making it even more delicious.
