Thanksgiving Day is a day where one invites their relatives and friends over for a feast. It is celebrated with much enthusiasm, grand and galore. The cause of celebration is to rejoice the harvest of the previous year. There is an annual national holiday in the United States of America and Canada on Thanksgiving Day. In 2019 it will be celebrated on 28th November. Take a look at the recipe of turkey, which you can serve your loved ones on Thanksgiving.
How to cook your own Thanksgiving turkey at home?
Ingredients
- One whole turkey, without skin
- 500 grams of soft butter
- Olive oil
- One sliced medium-size orange
- One large onion
- Two bunches of chopped celery
- Two big tablespoons of dried parsley
- One large lemon
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper
Recipe
- Take a big glass bowl, add butter, black pepper, salt, and some olive oil in it. Now add some zest of orange and it’s freshly pressed juice to the seasoned butter. After that add around four cloves of finely chopped garlic, and a handful of chopped parsley in the glass bowl. Mix all the ingredients really well.
- Now its time to season inside the cavity of the turkey and put all the ingredients in it. Add salt and pepper along with two halves of onion inside the turkey cavity. You also need to add a whole lemon, some chopped celery inside the turkey. To give it a lemony, zingy flavour.
- Now slowly loosen the entire skin of the turkey with the help of your fingers, but make sure not to tear it apart. We do this so that we can coat the turkey with the butter batter we made earlier. Once we coat the entire inside skin of the turkey with butter, repeat the same on the outside skin in order to keep the turkey nice and moist. After coating the whole turkey with butter, add drops of olive generously before keeping it in the oven.
- Place your turkey in an oven-safe utensil and start to roast at 220 degrees Celsius for 12 minutes and take it out. Now add few slices of bacon over the turkey in vertical order. Also, pour the melted butter from the turkey itself on top of it, and put it back in the over. Roast the turkey for two to three hours until cooked completely, and your Thanksgiving turkey is ready to be served.
