Winter season in India usually falls from October to January. Just like the climate, our body changes to keep up with the changing weather. For that, the body needs vitamins and energy. According to many health nutritions, a change in diet according to each season is necessary, for supplying the body with the right fuel. Here is a list of few foods items that you need to include in your diet this season:
Honey
Honey has been known for its anti-oxidant properties since ages. This sweet substance is used in many food items and medicines. Its natural properties can reportedly keep your body warm and energetic. You can add it in salads as a dressing. You can substitute sugar with honey in your beverages too. You can add honey in your regular glass of milk as well.
Zinc and Selenium rich food
Dark chocolates are a rich source of zinc. Sea-food and vegetables like peas and potatoes are good sources for selenium. Zinc and selenium maintain the defence system of the body and fight infections too.
Support Serotine
Tryptophan, an amino acid that regulates serotine is naturally present in dairy products, dried dates, fish and almonds among others. Bananas are considered as one of the best source of tryptophan by many nutrition experts.
Citrus fruits and root vegetables
Medical reports suggest that citrus fruits are a rich source of Vitamin C and minerals essential for skin and metabolism. Similarly, root vegetables like carrots among others are available in the freshest form and are good for consuming Vitamin A, which helps in fighting cold and common infections.
Ghee and Warming Spices
According to Ayurveda, ghee is one of the essential items to add in regular diet during winters. Ghee provides warmth and energy to the body. Spices like cloves, cinnamon, ginger, among others, not only add taste to food but also keep the body warm.
