Sugar-free sweets for diabetics
Sugar-Free Date Rolls
Obviously, date rolls are sweet and nutrient-filled. Although it is not ideal for diabetics to indulge in large quantities of the sweet, they are much better than candy loaded with sugar. The added nuts and poppy seeds are rich in protein and calcium, helping the date rolls easily fall on the sweet spectrum's richer side.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED
1 tablespoon ghee, 1 cup of black dates, 1 tablespoon of chopped almonds, 1 tablespoon of chopped pistachios, 1 tablespoon of chopped walnuts, and 2 tablespoons of poppy seeds for coating.
STEPS TO FOLLOW
- Begin by heating the ghee in a saucepan, then add the chopped dates and cook in the ghee on a low flame, stirring continuously for 5-10 minutes until well combined with the ghee and made into a soft lump.
- Remove them from the heat and mix the chopped dates with the nuts well.
- Roll the date and nuts mixture into rolls and sprinkle each roll with poppy seeds and cool to set.
Chocolate Milk Peda
The sugar-free, high-protein chocolate milk peda is prepared with hints of cardamom, saffron, and chocolate.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED
4 cups of low-fat milk, 1 teaspoon of artificial sweetener, ¼ teaspoon of cardamom, ¼ teaspoon of citric acid, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 2 teaspoons of cornflour dissolved in 3-4 teaspoons of steam, ghee for greasing, and nuts to garnish.
STEPS TO FOLLOW
- We start by boiling the milk in a non-stick pot, stirring in every 10 minutes for an hour until the milk is reduced to half the initial amount.
- Add citric acid, powdered cocoa, sweetener, and cornflour. Stir the milk mixture every 2-3 minutes until the mixture starts to thicken. Once the mixture gets doughy, detach it from the gas and allow it to cool down.
