If you are trying to go on a strict diet, it is always going to be a tough battle for you to fight between maintaining your waistline and controlling your cravings.
Vegetable oils are said to be an integral part of Indian food but they contain a large volume of Omega 6 fatty acids and polyunsaturated fats. A lot of artificial antioxidants and preservatives are added to it, which harm your health. To ease your ever-demanding taste buds and following your health routine at the same time, here are some easy oil-free recipes to try out!
Try your hand at these zero-oil easy recipes
Rice and moong dal idli:
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup rice
- 1/3 cup moong dal (green gram)
- A pinch of baking soda
- Salt for taste
Method:
- Soak the rice, dal and fenugreek seeds in water for five to six hours.
- Grind the soaked ingredients in a mixer and leave the batter aside for at least eight hours or preferably overnight.
- Then, add baking soda and salt as per taste and pour the little mixture into the cavities of a small idli maker.
- Steam in a cooker for a few minutes. Repeat this process for the remaining mixture.
- Serve these oil-free healthy Idlis with chutney.
Scrambled egg recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 chopped Onion
- 1 chopped Tomato
- 2 chopped green chillies
- Chopped coriander leaves
- Salt as per taste
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon ginger garlic paste
- 2 eggs
Method:
- Pre-heat your non-stick pan.
- Start by adding chopped onions, ginger and garlic paste.
- Mix it well and sauté it.
- Add turmeric powder, green chillies and salt as per taste.
- Put two eggs and mix it well with the paste.
- Add some chopped coriander leaves.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes.
Makai palak recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup corn kernels boiled
- 2 bunch of spinach chopped
- 2 medium onions chopped
- 2 tsp garlic and garlic paste
- 2 green chillies chopped
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- A pinch of turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp dry mango powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup yoghurt
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp dry fenugreek leaves roasted and powdered
Method:
- Blanch spinach in boiling water for a minute. Drain and refresh in cold water. Drain and puree in a blender.
- Add onion and sauté till it is lightly browned. Add garlic paste and stir. Add green chillies, ginger strips and sauté till it is browned further. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, dry mango powder and stir.
- Add spinach puree and stir to mix well. Add corn and salt and stir. Add yoghurt, garam masala powder and roasted dry fenugreek leave powder.
- Stir and turn off the heat. Serve hot with chapattis.
