Chef Sanjeev Kapoor is one of the most celebrated faces in the Indian culinary industry. He hosted a cookery show named Khana Khazana on television for more than 17 years and is an author of about 150+ bestselling cookbooks. He is said to be the only Chef who runs a TV Channel that is FoodFood. Sanjeev has won several awards which includes National Award for Best Chef of the Year 2008 by the Government of India. He also owns several restaurants, not in India but abroad too. His achievements are known, but few know about his journey. Read on to know his journey.
About Master Chef Sanjeev Kapoor
Sanjeev Kapoor was born in Ambala, Haryana on April 10, 1964. His father was a banker, as mentioned by him in various interviews with media portals. Due to his father’s transfer from one place to another, he studied at different schools throughout the country but was one of the best students in his class. After his 9th grade, he took up biology as the main subject. There were two options for him, either to become a doctor or an engineer. He opted for engineering but did not appear for exams like IIT. However, fate has a different plan as Sanjeev got to know about the hotel management course. Consequently, He was selected and got a Diploma in Hotel Management from Institute of Hotel Management Catering & Nutrition, Pusa, New Delhi.
After his training in Delhi, he was posted as an understudy chef in Hotel Varanasi Ashok. Sanjeev was made the Executive chef there and was in Varanasi for about six years. He met his now-wife Alyona Kapoor there. They tied know after 4 years of being in a relationship. Sanjeev became a household face with Khana Khazana, which happened early on in his career. Aired on Zee TV, it was the initially called Shrimaan Bawarchi. The show went on to become one of the longest-running show for about 17 years. Now his business ventures range from premium cookware and appliance brand Wonderchef to TV channel FoodFood. According to a leading daily, his net revenue is over ₹ 500 crores. He is the brand ambassador for several famous brands. He has two daughters named Kriti Kapoor and Rachita Kapoor.
