Cold is so common that according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), adults can expect to get a cold two times a year. They help protect your body from infection. Low-sodium soup also carries great nutritional value and helps you keep hydrated.
2. Ginger

A few slices of raw ginger in warm water may also help sooth rough throat, cough and cold. Research also suggests that it can ward off feelings of nausea that often accompany influenza.
