Diabetes is a chronic disease that has reached global epidemic proportions. There are many serious conditions that follow uncontrolled diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, blindness, and other complications. Such disorders are also correlated with prediabetes. Specifically, eating the wrong foods will increase your blood sugar and insulin levels and stimulate inflammation, which can raise your disease risk. These are the foods that you have to avoid.
Avoid these food to control diabetes
SUGARY FOOD
Sugary drinks, for anyone with diabetes, is the worst choice of cocktail. To begin with, they are very high in carbohydrates, delivering 38 grams sugar in soda alone. The same volume of sweetened iced tea and lemonade also contains carbs from sugar alone. These are also filled with fructose, which is strongly linked with resistance to insulin and diabetes. Nevertheless, studies suggest that drinking sugar-sweetened beverages can increase the risk of disorders related to diabetes like fatty liver. Instead of sugary drinks, use milk, club soda, or unsweetened iced tea to help control blood sugar levels and prevent disease risk.
SNACK ON FRESH FRUIT INSTEAD OF DRIED FRUIT
While dried fruit provides fiber and many nutrients, the moisture is lost by the dehydration process, so eating more is better. While it is safer for you to snack on raisins and dried apricots than to eat a cake, it will still cause your blood sugar to soar. Avoid the dried fruit and instead choose whole fruits that induce a smaller and faster increase in blood glucose.
EATING OILY, FRIED FOOD
You may have a weakness for fried foods like french fries, fried chicken, and potato chips, but it will be healthier for your health in the long run to fulfill this desire for another way. According to the reports, usually, fried foods soak up tons of oil, which is equal to a lot of extra calories. They don't just raise blood sugar at the end of the meal; digesting fat takes longer and it can continue over a long period of time. So it keeps blood sugar up for longer too.
ALCOHOL
Before indulging in a cocktail or even a glass of wine with lunch, check with your doctor to make sure that drinking alcohol is healthy as it may tamper with your levels of blood sugar. Drink in balance if you are intoxicated. A standard serving is measured as 5 ounces of wine and 1.5 of distilled liquor.
Lastly, People tend to think "organic" sweeteners like honey are all right, but the body does not differentiate between these kinds of sugars. None of them are healthy for diabetic people.
