November 14 was designated as World Diabetes Day by the United Nations (UN) on December 20, 2006. A significant date in diabetes calendar, November 14 marks the birthday of the man who co-discovered insulin, Frederick Banting. Insulin was discovered by Fredrick Banting alongside Charles Best. This occasion is celebrated by raising awareness of diabetes, its prevention and complications and also the care that people with diabetes require.
