"People suffering from a burning throat commonly describe a painful, hot, or tingling sensation in the throat. Depending on the underlying cause, this burning or tingling feeling in the throat can last for minutes to days," explained Dr. Tandon.

He said, "A constant feeling that something is in the throat (Globus sensation), phlegm in the throat, throat clearing, throat irritation, postnasal drip, chronic cough, hoarseness, and trouble swallowing are some of the symptoms which can accompany a burning sensation in the throat."

"Drinking plenty of fluids can help stop the throat from becoming dry, which can cause irritation. To soothe the throat, try drinking a mixture of hot water, honey, and lemon. Avoid spicy and oily food," he advised.
