Indian cities with severe Air Quality Index: Delhi, Ghaziabad updates

Delhi-NCR air has been thickening due to polluted haze for a couple of days since the past couple of days. Air quality continues to drop in Delhi, which is leading to breathing problems amongst the citizens. Some people are also complaining about burning sensations in their eyes when they are exposed to the air. Pollution level in Delhi has also reduced visibility, which has disrupted the road and air traffic. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described the situation as "unbearable."

Delhi: Pollution Levels Hit High In Smog-wreathed Capital

Ghaziabad is the most polluted city, along with other parts of northern India that are facing unpleasant air pollution levels. Ghaziabad's air quality fell to the worst of the season on Tuesday, October 29. The air quality index (AQI) for Ghaziabad city was recorded at 459. Ghaziabad also topped the list of the most polluted Indian cities on Wednesday, October 30,  with an AQI of 478. Reportedly, a lot of people were affected by exposure to such pollution levels. Due to rising air pollution in the Ghaziabad, all government and private schools up to class 12 are likely to remain closed on November 4th and 5th.

According to various media reports, over 40% of Delhi and NCR residents want to move to another city due to poor air quality, while 16% want to fly over the time. According to AQI data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Greater Noida stands at an AQI count of 473. Cites like Hapur, Meerut, Kanpur, and many more are facing similar problems.
