Workout: Check out these post workout tips to soothe sore muscles

The key to a perfect post-workout recovery is sufficient rest so that your muscles can have time to repair themselves post the heavy workout sessions. Stretching also plays an important role in recovery and here we bring out some key tips on the points to remember while you are on the journey of post-workout recovery.

Workout recovery tips:

  • If you are somebody who does cardio workouts, then warm up your body with a run, brisk walk, walking lunges, butt kicks or high steps. 
  • One thing that can help you avoid sore muscles is to do static stretching before working out. Static stretching works for those people who do heavy gym workouts. But remember to warm-up your body before doing static stretching.
  • It is super important that you rest a specified amount of time after your workout sessions so that your muscles have sufficient time to heal from the wear and tear due to stretching.
  • For the muscles that are too sore, try and use an ice pack on the specific areas.
  • For people who workout 5-6 times a week should ideally get massaged once every two weeks or get a massage done at home.
  • A warm bath has been known to soothe the sore muscles and help you get a good sleep as well.
  • Slow down on your workout frequency if your body feels unbearably sore. 
  • Ask your trainer for stretching recommendations that may soothe your sore and stiff muscles post-workout.

Sore muscles: the Foam roller

A famous fitness and workout guru shared a must-use method to soothe the sore muscles on her Instagram account. The Australian personal trainer named Kayla Itsines shared her post-workout recovery regime and revealed a recovery trick in the form of a Foam Roller. The foam roller basically helps in instant massaging the target locations that you can do without getting a massage appointment. The foam roller is also called a fit ball or a swiss ball.
