What is Yellow Fever?
Yellow fever is a deadly fever, which takes place due to a mosquito bite. The Yellow Fever occurs due to the transfer of Flavivirus virus to human beings from aeedes and haemogogus infected mosquitoes. There is a high chance of getting bitten by these virus-infected mosquitoes, especially in dense endemic regions, as mentioned above. In fact, in some cases in South America, this fever is also transmission from monkeys to human beings.
Symptoms of Yellow Fever
The yellow fever is not an instant fever which one gets within a few hours after the mosquito bite. The Yellow fever is divided into three stages based on the infection. Let’s take a look a magnified look concerning symptoms in every stage.
Stage 1:
It takes around 3-6 days for the virus to incubate. Following symptoms may be exhibited by the patient after that:
- Slow heart rate
- Headache
- Febrile, Generalised malaise
- Nausea

- Irritability
- Lumbosacral pain
Stage 2:

Stage 3:
Stage 3 is an Intoxication period. This phase starts after the sixth day of the mosquito bite. During this stage, all the symptoms which were earlier experienced in the infection stage bounce back. Thus leading to-

- Kidney and liver failure
- Oliguria
- Dark urine
- Haemorrhage
- CNS Dysfunction
Treatment of Yellow Fever
Though there is an absence of a specific drug or live vaccine for Yellow fever, its impact can be reduced by
- Dialysis
- Proper Nutrition
- Intensive care
- Treating the bleeding, through FFP
- Antibiotics for viral infections
