Yoga is considered by some to be one of the best ways to keep your hair healthy. It increases the flow of blood to the scalp, which is said to help with hair growth. It also supplies oxygen to the scalp which prevents hair loss. Asanas like Adho Mukha Svanasana, Uthanasana, and Vajrasana, are best for hair growth. Here are the step-to-step directions for all 3 poses:
Yoga asanas for hair growth
Adho Mukha Svanasana
This yoga asana helps to stimulate blood flow to the scalp, promoting hair growth.
- Stand on four limbs, forming a table-like structure for your body.
- Exhale and raise the shoulders softly and straighten the elbows and knees. You have to make sure that your body forms an inverted V.
- Your arms should match your back and your feet should match your thighs. Make sure the feet are pointing outside.
- Press your hands on the floor and lengthen your head. The hands are supposed to touch the inner arms.
- Stay for a couple of seconds, then bend your knees back to the table position.
Uthanasana
This yoga asana gives your back, your hips, and calves a good stretch. This posture often referred to as the Camel Posture. It increases blood flow to the brain, which, in turn, helps hair growth and health.
- Kneel on a mat with your spine erect, raising your knees from the ground at an angle of 90 degrees.
- Place your hands on the waist, with the thumb behind and other fingers in the front
- Inhale deeply and slowly arch backwards.
- Hold your feet with your hands and stretch to touch the soles.
- The eyes must face the ceiling
- Hold this pose for around 60 seconds and breathe normally.
- Slowly exhale and return to the position of kneeling.
Vajrasana
Vajrasana pose is one of the best yoga asanas for hair growth. According to a medical journal, it improves metabolism which then prevents constipation and combats gastrointestinal problems. All these can help reduce digestive disorders that cause hair loss.
