Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, marks the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. The term Krishna Janmashtami means "Occasion of the birth of Krishna". According to the Hindu lunisolar calendar, the festival is observed in Bhadrapada Masa on the eighth tithi (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight).

  • This year, Janmashtami will be celebrated on September 6 and September 7.
