The Konark Festival in Odisha scheduled from February 19 to 23 every year is one of the most celebrated cultural festivals in India. The history of the Konark Festival dates back to 1986 and was founded by Padmashree Guru Gangadhar Pradhan. People from across the globe participate in huge numbers for the dance, music and cultural festival.This year will mark the 33rd edition of the Konark Festival.The festival is conducted at the Konark Natya Mandap or Natyashala at Konark Sun temple. Performances include Odissi, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Mohiniattam and other classical, folk and tribal dance and music. Performers from across India ands also across globe participate in this cultural festival.

All about Konark Festival

The aim of the festival is to highlight the diverse classical, folk and contemporary dance forms and music to the world. The speciality about this festival is that it encases a spiritual and aesthetic vibe as the venue takes us into the inside of the iconic Konark Sun temple. The tickets for the five-day festival are available in their official website. Their is also provisions to make your contribution for poverty eradication. Travellers can also visit the famous tourist spots  like the Konark Museum / Archaeological Museum, Chandrabhaga Beach / Konark Sea Beach, Astaranga Beach, Maa Mangala Temple, Ramachandi Temple and Beach.

How to apply for the dance workshop & Festival

The workshop is scheduled from February 18 to 22 and will incorporate various Odissi dance sessions, along with Sambalpuri, and other folk dances as well. If you wish to participate in this one-of-a-kind cultural festival, all you have to do is send in your photographs, a DVD of your performance to the Head office address.
