Schengen is a defined region in the European continent. It is a travel zone where you can travel passport-free if you get a visa approved by the European Union. It is reportedly the largest free-travel area in the world. A Schengen visa is a short-period visa given to a person so that he or she can travel in the Schengen areas for travel or business. The period for which the visa is valid for tourism and business is 90 days.

Here is how the Schengen visa application cover page should look

To address:

To the embassy of the country, you want to visit.

Respected Sir/ Madam

Subject: I want to visit the Schengen region from **/**/**** to **/**/**** and will be visiting two countries, France and Germany, for travel/ business. 

Body:

Here you request the country you want to visit to allow you to visit their country. You give the details like the dates, the travellers, and their names. Mention the places you are going to visit in the Schengen area. And what is the purpose of you visiting the country?

After this, you will need to give your details like

Your current address and other contact details like mobile number and telephone number,

Then a list of attested documents for visa verifications.

Schengen visa application form

Passport No:

Passport size photo (according to the region the size may differ check before)

Financial details:

  • Bank account statement (should not be older than three months)

  • Sponsorship letter by another person that confirms they will be financially supporting your trip to the Schengen.

Employment details:

For employees:

  • Employment contract.

  • Current bank statement for the latest 6 months.

  • Leave permission from the employer.

  • Income Tax Return (ITR) form or Certificate of Income Tax deducted at the source of salary.

For the self-employed:

  • A copy of your business license.

  • Company bank statement for the latest 6 months.

  • Income Tax Return (ITR).

For students:

  • Proof of enrollment.

  • No objection letter from school or university.

For retirees:

Pension statement of the last 6 months.

If unemployed and married to an EU citizen:

  • Confirmation of employment letter, no older than three months, from their spouse’s employer stating the position held within the company as well as the starting date.
  • Spouse’s valid passport.
  • An official marriage certificate.

For Minors:

  • The minor’s birth certificate.

  • Application form signed by both parents.

  • Family court order – in cases where only one parent has full custody over the child.

  • Certified copies of ID/passport of both parents.

  • A notarized parental authorization signed by both parents/guardians if the minor will be travelling alone.
