The vacation hangover is certainly not over yet. It is that time of the year when we wish to let go of all our hassles owing to the hectic schedule and go for some much-needed detox to some peaceful location. While there are several options to choose from, it is a good idea to explore the Konkan belt, this holiday season. Not only is it closer to home, but Konkan is also a place of great beauty and serenity. The Konkan belt is a vast region spanning over 700 kilometres. Right from the tropical beaches, tasty seafood, historical monuments to tranquil waterfalls, there is nothing that the Konkan region cannot offer you.

Alibaug

This is one of the most popular places to visit in the Konkan region. The coastal region boasts of some picturesque locales which you can also by taking a ferry ride from the Gateway Of India. The place has some lovely beaches and forts. The Alibaug Fort and the Kanakeshwar Temple are one of the must-visit places in Alibaug. But there is no denying that Alibaug is known for its pristine beaches namely Varsoli beach, Nagaon beach and Akshi beach. 

Ganpatipule

This beautiful place has some alluring plantations and mangroves. It is the ideal place for a weekend detox. It also attracts a lot of pilgrims as it reportedly has a 400-year-old Ganpati deity. Some of the best places to explore are Aeropagus Spa, Greenleaf Resort and Hotel Heramb. The best time to visit Ganpatipule is on winters and monsoons.

Ratnagiri

Not only is this place known for their mangoes, but also the picturesque locales owing to the mountains of the Western Ghats. It also offers a lot of water sports activities. The Guhagar beach and the Ratnagiri lighthouse is a must-watch in this place. Ratnagiri is also the birthplace of the legendary freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
