- Si Phan Don: An exceptionally beautiful site is that of Si Phan Don, which an amalgamation of islands alongside the Mekong River. One also gets to witness the Khone Falls in the same vicinity, which is a treat to watch. The most astounding trait of Mekong river is that it is habitat to some Irrawaddy dolphins as well. In fact, you can book your stay well in advance, at rented bungalows in some of the islands of Si Phan Don.
- Tham Kong Lo: It is a limestone cave located in the famous Bun National Park, which is situated on the Phu Hin Bun river, which flows inside the cave. Tham Kong Lo is a popular tourist attraction for those visiting Laos. The caves are located in the Khammmouane province, which is around 130 kilometres away from Thakhek.
- Luang Prabang: Is the capital of Laos. Luang Prabang has a lot of historical significance attached to it. The city is home to some ancient Buddhist temples. Elephant rides can also be enjoyed when in Luang Prabang while capturing the scintillating view of waterfalls nearby. Luang Prabang is situated at the conjunction of two massive rivers, Nam Khan and Mekong river, respectively. A highly recommended place to visit when in Luang Prabang.
