The wonderful winter season brings with it the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun activities- winter camps being the most common amongst them. Winter camps provide an opportunity for people to come together, celebrate and make most of their holidays while dealing with the cold. With a lot of winter camps being organised, you would do well to come up with different ideas to make your camps more interesting. If you are searching for things to do on a winter camp, here are five very innovative fun activities that you can include in your winter camp schedule.
Fun and creative winter camp ideas
Hunt for the Winter Snowman
For this activity, one of the campers can wear big cardboard pieces cut into the shape of giant feet. Attaching this to their shoes, they can walk around the area, cycling and bending their tracks here and there. The end should be somewhere unconventional, where the camper can construct a giant snowman. The task for the other campers would be to locate the snowman and earn prizes.
Constructing Winter Gear
Campers need their gear to survive in the cold. These campers can be given the task of making their own gear from ordinary materials such as cardboard and Styrofoam. This will bring out the creativity of all participating campers.
Seal Races
To conduct this activity, it is important to ensure that everyone is wearing the proper gear. The campers can lay on their belly, or use ice awls to go faster. Choosing a straight track covered with snow, they can use their ice awls and limbs to crawl to the finish point, just like seals do.
Spotting different animal tracks
During winter, the woods are covered with snow. This makes it an excellent ground for observing the tracks of different animals. This makes for a great learning experience and is perfect for a camp of young adults.
Snow forts and snowball fights
What is winter without a snowball fight? The campers can be divided into two teams, and each team can build a snow fort of their own. Once both teams are ready, they can engage in a snowball fight. To make matters more interesting, there can be a rule on how many snowballs each team is allowed to use- similar to limited ammunition.
A lot more activities can be devised and practised at a winter camp. For example, telling spooky stories when everyone is sitting around a campfire can be another fun activity. Winter camps for children and adults are always fun. By throwing in some more exciting activities like the ones mentioned here, you can make these outings really adventurous.
