Maharashtra, the state of Marathas, situated between the Arabian sea and the Western Ghats, has a very unique location. The state is rich in flora and fauna. There is a lot to explore in this beautiful state of India. From sacred places to amazing adventurous destinations, Maharashtra accounts for a lot to explore and have fun. Here are some of the places for making your Maharashtra tour a memorable one.

Mumbai

From being called the 'city of dreams; to the 'financial capital of India', Mumbai is one of those destinations that lures you with beachy waves, windy weather, amazing street food delicacies and a place to go for a shopping spree. It is the largest city in Maharashtra. Major attractions include  Marine Drive, Gateway of India, Juhu beach, Hanging Gardens and the list goes on. The city is home to the famous Indian film industry of Bollywood.

Mahabaleshwar

Mahabaleshwar is a hill station in Maharashtra. It is located at the Western Ghats. The average elevation of the place is 1353 meters above sea level and is the source of the Krishna river. The water is originated from the spout which is shaped like the mouth of a cow. The major attractions here are Lingmala Waterfalls and Panchgani temple. Mahabaleshwar is famous for its lakes and trekking hotspots.

Solapur

Solapur is located on the border of Karnataka and Maharashtra. The city has a moderate and dry climate for most of the year. The ancient temples and lakes are eye-pleasing attractions in Solapur. Major attractions include Siddeshwar Temple, Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary, Solapur fort, and Pandharpur temple. You can even plan to visit Satara as it is a nearby destination.

Matheran

Matheran is a hill station located in the Western Ghats. It is situated at an 800 meters elevation above sea level. The city has a cool and less humid climate. Alibag

Alibag was developed under the Naval Chief of the Maratha Ruler Shivaji. Famous for its white sandy beaches, the coastal town is nearby from Mumbai.
