CM Vijayan behind my attack: Kerala Governor's explosive claim as SFI activists block his convoy
"These people (SFI activists) are sent by the Chief Minister. Their aim is to physically harm me," Khan told the media.
Thiruvananthapuram: Accusing the Kerala government of trying to physically harm him, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday hit out at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan after Student Federation of India (SFI) activists allegedly attacked his convoy.
At 7.30 PM, the youth wing of the ruling CPIM was seen waving a black flag against the governor, alleging that the governor has been misusing his position as the Chancellor of state universities to rope in RSS functionaries.
Things took a turn for the worse when the SFI activists breached the security of the state's first citizen in front of Kerala university campus. After the incident, the furious Governor immediately stepped out of the car, citing that the "goons sent by Chief Minister" tried to break the window of his car and tried to escape.
After the breach, the Governor questioned the lack of security provided to him. Getting out of his car en route to the airport, Khan lashed out at CM Vijayan in front of the media. Visibly upset, Khan alleged that the CM is sending people to heckle him.
The Governor's convoy had left the Raj Bhavan for Delhi at around 6.50 pm. At least 20 SFI activists evaded security, stopping Khan's convoy and chanting "RSS Governor go back."
"Don't try to threaten me with goondas," he said, seething with anger as the Governor walked back to his car guided by security. "These people are sent by the Chief Minister. Their aim is to physically harm me," Khan told the media.
The SFI has led several protests against the Supreme Court's verdict, upholding the Governor's position to appoint Vice Chancellors to universities. Earlier, the SFI announced that it would corner the Governor in public as a mark of protest. Since then, several black flags were raised on Sunday evening during a public program wherein the Governor was also present.
