ED summons Rajasthan PCC chief's sons for questioning in paper leak case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned the sons of Rajasthan PCC Chief Govind Dotasara for questioning in connection with a paper leak case
In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned the sons of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Govind Dotasara for questioning in connection with a paper leak case. Abhilash Dotasara is scheduled to appear before the ED in Delhi on November 7, followed by Avinash Dotasara on November 8.
This move comes close on the heels of ED's recent raids on Govind Singh Dotasara's official residence in Jaipur and his private residence in Sikar, both related to the ongoing paper leak investigation. These raids have been part of a broader probe into the alleged paper leak scandal.
ED raids Dotasra
Last week, the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at the residences of Dotasra as part of an investigation into alleged money laundering connected to an exam paper leak case. Additionally, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's son was summoned by the ED in a case related to foreign exchange violations.
In addition to Dotasra's properties, the agency is also conducting searches at the residence of Omprakash Hudla, a Congress candidate from the Mahua seat in Dausa, and other locations, according to official sources.
The Congress party criticized the Central government for the ED's actions against its leaders in Rajasthan. They accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using investigative agencies for political purposes during the elections, stating that the people would respond fittingly. Chief Minister Gehlot expressed that these ED raids have become a daily occurrence in the state, suggesting that the BJP is attempting to prevent the Congress party's promises from reaching women, farmers, and the underprivileged. The Rajasthan Assembly elections, comprising 200 seats, are scheduled for November 25, with results expected on November 3.
Notably, Dotasra is the party candidate from Lacchmangarh seat of Sikar against BJP’s Subhash Maharia. He is also the sitting MLA from this seat while Hudla is an independent MLA and the Congress has fielded him from the Mahua assembly seat this time.
The money laundering case stems from FIRs filed by the Rajasthan Police against the accused. The accused, “in connivance with each other leaked the question paper of general knowledge of senior teacher grade II competitive examination, 2022 which was scheduled to be conducted by RPSC (Rajasthan Public Service Commission) on 21.12.2022, 22.12.2022 and 24.12.2022 and provided it to appearing candidates for the consideration amount of Rs 8-10 lakh per candidate,” the ED had said.
Former Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Babulal Katara and two other people identified as Anil Kumar Meena and Bhupendra Saran were arrested by the ED in this case. The agency also summoned the Rajasthan chief minister’s son Vaibhav Gehlot for questioning in a case related to alleged contravention of the foreign exchange law.
