Kolkata: BJP President JP Nadda has removed West Bengal leader Anupam Hazra from the role of the party's national secretary on Tuesday, as per reports.

According to prior, Hazra, a former Lok Sabha MP, had been criticising the party's actions in West Bengal  for a while now. This decision by the BJP took place while Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah were in Kolkata for political events.

As per news agency PTI,  Hazra's removal is being perceived as a signal to party members who disagree to follow the rules and support the leadership's decisions.

Following his removal, Hazra, via a post on his Facebook, said, "Within three hours of the resignation, the conveyed message was, 'It will return to normal if specific conditions are fulfilled!'"
