Ahead of the grand inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka on Monday alleged that the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the state is reopening old cases related to the demolition of the Babri Masjid that took place in 1992. The BJP’s allegations came after two saffron party activists from Hubballi, who participated in the Ram temple agitation as Karsewaks, 31 years ago, were arrested in connection to the pending cases. Responding to the matter, Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka K Sukumar said the police traced the accused in cases pending for long and termed it a “routine” police procedure.
