Not many players can boast of writing their name in the record books alongside LA Lakers star LeBron James. Dallas Mavericks' Luka Doncic, however, had the pleasure of doing so during the Mavericks' 117-110 win over San Antonio Spurs. Luka Doncic registered a game-high 42 points against the Spurs. In doing so, the Mavs' star became only the second under-21 player to record a 40-point triple-double. The only other player to register such a feat in the NBA was Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James.
Here's every 20-year-old player ever with a 40-point triple-double:

Luka Doncic dominates in Dallas Mavericks' win
Interestingly, this was Luka Doncic's sixth triple-double in the 2019-20 NBA season. Luka Doncic's career-high 42-point display included 11 rebounds and 12 assists. On seeing Luka Doncic become just the second under-21 player to record a 40-point triple-double, LeBron James took to Instagram to congratulate Doncic. James uploaded a story on his Instagram profile saying that he had warned that Luka Doncic was that good. Well, in so many words anyway.
The Dallas Mavericks now have an 8-5 record in the NBA this season. Luka Doncic and LeBron James faced off against each other earlier this month. LeBron James ended up on the winning side as the Lakers triumphed over the Mavs. James racked up a game-high 39 points during the Lakers' overtime win. However, Luka Doncic was not far behind, as he ended up with 31 points on the night. Interestingly, both Luka Doncic and LeBron James posted triple-doubles during their last encounter. Luka Doncic will have the opportunity to reverse the result from their last game against the Lakers next week when the Dallas Mavericks travel to the Staples Center on Monday.
