After India vs Pakistan, another ODI WC 2023 game likely to be rescheduled for THIS reason

The 2023 ICC ODI World Cup schedule may undergo changes, which would present new difficulties for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The objections from "several Full Member countries" regarding the tournament's fixtures led to a reconsideration of the calendar, according to BCCI secretary Jay Shah. Just one week after the BCCI and ICC jointly unveiled the eagerly awaited schedule, which intended to kick off the World Cup in India on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, these worries appeared.

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) requests the ICC recce team to alter the Pakistan vs England 

According to a report by PTI on Saturday, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has asked the ICC recce team to take the scheduled World Cup match between Pakistan and England on November 12 into consideration. The rationale for this request is that Kali Puja, the second-largest festival in West Bengal, falls on the same day as the match. After the end of Durga Puja, Kali Puja occurs almost two weeks later.

The city of Kolkata is expecting thousands of neighborhood groups to host events during Kali Puja, necessitating a sizable police presence in order to maintain law and order. Due to this circumstance, it might not be possible to deploy more police officers to Eden Gardens for the game. As a result, CAB is pleading with the ICC to think about delaying the game in order to prevent any logistical difficulties and guarantee a hassle-free and secure event for both the players and spectators.

Snehasish Ganguly disagrees that the board requested a timetable alteration from the ICC

However, CAB president Snehasish Ganguly opposed the board's request for a schedule adjustment from the ICC, and senior members told PTI that the Kolkata Police had expressed a security concern. A top CAB officer said during a meeting with the 17-member ICC and BCCI inspection delegation that the Kolkata Police highlighted security concerns for the Diwali match. They notified the ICC and BCCI of the situation and threatened to notify the chief minister if rescheduling did not take place. However, before engaging with the ICC, the CAB chairman is awaiting official confirmation.

CAB officials recently paid a visit to the Kolkata Police headquarters to discuss stadium preparations and planning. According to ESPNCricinfo, CAB has already asked BCCI to shift the England-Pakistan match from November 12 to November 11 citing to security concerns. The BCCI secretary confirmed last week that numerous Full Member States requested scheduling alterations due to logistical issues.
