Ireland were in for a massive surprise on day three of the one-off test match against England as they were bundled out for a mere 38 runs. Chasing the 182-run target set by World Cup winners England, Ireland's Test debut turned out to be a nightmare after their batting order collapsed under the brutal pace attack of the English bowlers.

Chris Wokaes took six scalps along with veteran pacer Stuart Broad's four wickets to seal a victory for England. Just the previous day, Ireland were poised to win the match after England were dismissed for 85 runs and 303 runs in the first and second innings respectively. The Irish batsmen failed to adapt to the pitch conditions at the Lord's Cricket Grounds, ending their Test debut in a rather unprecedented manner.

Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to point out that the Irish honeymoon ended after their disastrous collapse against the England pace attack. However, he said that Ireland's honeymoon was good as long as it lasted.

Netizens, too, reacted differently to the Irish collapse, as many had predicted earlier that there was a potential for the debut side to cause a major upset at the home of cricket to the World Cup winners. Read some of the reactions below:

Cricket fans encouraged the debut side despite their batting collapse as they displayed exemplary skills against a top test side.

A user took to cheekily point out that the match lasted a little longer than India's rain-hit semi-final in the World Cup against New Zealand that saw the match spreading over two days.

One user took to highlight the significant incidents witnessed in the match.

England will now head into the Ashes which begins on August 1.
