One of India’s greatest match-winners of all times, Anil Kumble, was known for his consistent accuracy and fighting spirit. His spell to West Indian legend Brian Lara where he bowled with a broken jaw is still etched in a lot of cricket fans’ memory and has become a part of Indian cricketing folklore. One of only two bowlers to take all 10 wickets in a Test inning, Kumble represented Team India in 132 Tests, scalping 619 wickets in his 18-year international journey. He is also India’s most successful bowler in ODI’s, taking a record 337 wickets in 271 games.
One of India’s greatest ever Match winners and a terrific role model. Sorry for depriving you of your second century @anilkumble1074 bhai. But I pray that you score a century in real life. Only 51 more to go.. come on ..come on Anil Bhai ! Happy Birthday pic.twitter.com/P7UnvoLBlU

As we celebrate Anil Kumble’s 49th birthday, let’s take a look at 3 batsmen whom the Indian legend troubled the most in his career
3. Shivnarine Chanderpaul
West Indian stalwart Shivnarine Chanderpaul was one of Kumble’s biggest victim during the late 90s. The right-arm bowler trapped Chanderpaul with his leg-spinners seven times in 15 Test matches. During his playing days, Chanderpaul was one of West Indies’ most reliable batsmen along with Brian Lara and Ramnaresh Sarwan.
2. Inzamam-ul-Haq
Former Pakistan skipper was dismissed by the Indian legend eight times in 10 meetings. Inzamam, who scored 8830 runs in Tests for his country, was also one of Kumble’s 10 victims in that historic 1999 Kotla Test. That match-winning fourth innings spell of 10-74 was only the second instance in Test history of a bowler taking a perfect 10.
1. Adam Gilchrist
The stylish left-hander was part of Australia’s 3-consecutive World Cup-winning teams. He is also the only Aussie skipper in the last 50 years to lead his side to a series victory in India. Widely regarded as one of the greatest wicketkeeper-batsman of all time, Gilchrist, however, did not enjoy the same success against the Indian leggie. Anil Kumble scalped the Australian nine times in 18 Test matches throughout their playing days.
