Anushka Sharma-Farokh Engineer row: Amul pokes fun in latest topical

Amul, for years, has been entertaining audiences with their animated topicals. Any major event happens and one can expect the creative minds at the dairy brand to come up with a brilliant use of wordplay and the Amul girl, to highlight it and also promote themselves. The brand didn’t waste too much time in coming out with an illustration for Anushka Sharma’s heated response for being linked to controversial events related to Indian cricket. Former Indian cricketer Farokh Engineer, whose comments about the actor being served tea by selectors got her charged up, too featured in the graphic, for ‘Engineering a controversy.'

Exactly a day after Anushka Sharma’s post left the fans and even celebrities excited, Amul released their latest topical. Anushka turns into the Amul Girl here and is at the cricket stands. She is seen with the cup of ‘tea’ in her hand, one of the important components of the controversy, and of course, the bread and butter, while Farokh Engineer is seen with a bat in his hand and an image of an Indian cricketer in his hand. The caption read, “Engineering a controversy” and another line featured a play of words, ‘selected to serve’, over how Farokh’s criticism of selectors, along with the name of Anushka, had snowballed into a controversy.

Anushka in a strongly-worded post on social media lashed out at all the controversies she had become a part of, be it being linked with her husband and Indian captain Virat Kohli’s performance, or being accused of interfering with selection policy and attending closed-door meetings, 'overstaying' authorised time with her husband on foreign tour, BCCI’s ‘security’ for her with regards to her tickets, her visit to the High Commisioner in London. She wrote that she had kept quiet about her name used for these stories all this while, but silence could not be taken for the truth. She asked the media persons, netizens and celebrities to keep her out of this.

On the professional front, Anushka Sharma was last seen in the movie Zero. She had featured as the lead actor opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif too had played a crucial role in it. The actor, however, is yet to announce her next, though she was linked to star in a reported remake of Satta Pe Satta, that is reportedly set to feature Hrithik Roshan and be directed by Farah Khan.
