Australia thrashed Sri Lanka by 9 wickets to clinch the three-match T20I series as they now lead 2-0 with a game to go.
Sri Lanka opted to bat first after having won the toss. The visitors were not up to a good start as Kusal Mendis was run out in the second over. Gunathilaka and Fernando tried to steady the ship but the former was bowled by Billy Stanlake, who was replacing Starc in the match. Wickets started to tumble at regular intervals as the Lankans were left reeling at 75 for 6 inside 12 overs.
Kusal Perera was the top scorer with a cameo of 27 from 19 balls. He lacked support and eventually, Sri Lanka was bundled out for 117 with an over to spare. Stanlake, Cummins, Agar & Zampa bagged 2 wickets each.
Chasing a paltry 117, Australia got off to a horrible start as skipper Finch went for a golden duck off Lasith Malinga. Steve Smith joined David Warner at the crease and both started caressing the gaps and finding boundaries at will. The hosts ensured there was no further setback as they took the Lankan bowlers for a ride and completed their half-centuries in the process.
Aussies chased the target with seven overs to spare as Warner remained not out on 60 off 41 deliveries which included nine boundaries & Smith scored an unbeaten 53 with 6 boundaries.
