Australia vs Sri Lanka: Justin Langer backs Finch to regain fitness
As of now, Aaron Finch has been named as captain of the 14-man squad which will be taking on the Lankans. His side injury prompted him to miss out on a domestic One-Day game against Western Australia. However, the Australian coach is optimistic that he will be fit before the series-opening game against Sri Lanka this Sunday.
Apart from coaching the national side in all formats of the game, Justin Langer is also one of only two national selectors in the country. According to a report by Cricket Australia, Langer caught up with the Australian skipper last week. Langer deemed the injury as “minor” and his hopeful that the explosive right-handed batsman will be fit just in time to play the upcoming series.
Aaron Finch, who made his international debut in 2011, has played 52 T20Is and 119 ODI matches for the country. He is currently ranked 11th in ICC’s batsmen rankings for ODI’s with 764 rating points and has been one of Australia’s most reliable limited-overs batsmen in recent years.
