Bangladesh Cricket: Tamim Iqbal likely to skip part of India tour
Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal may miss part of upcoming Indian tour next month. Bangladesh team is scheduled to play 3 T20I's and 2 Tests in India.
Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal may miss some part of the upcoming tour to India due to personal reasons. According to a media report, Tamim has already intimated the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) about the same as the cricketer wishes to be with his wife who is expecting a second child.
Tamim Iqbal likely to miss part of India tour
Tamim Iqbal is expected to receive test results of his wife’s health shortly and will accordingly decide when he will join the team. According to sources, Tamim could join the team from the beginning itself if the test results are positive. However, if the results turned out to be negative, he will tour India after spending some time with his wife.
On their second-ever bilateral tour to India, the Bangladesh team will be visiting the cricket-crazy nation next month for a three-match T20I series and two-match Test series. The Test series between two Asian giants will be the second edition of Ganguly–Durjoy Trophy, which started when the Bangladesh team previously visited India in 2017. In the 2017 series, Team India won the one-off Test match by 208 runs. Virat Kohli scored a quick-fire 204 in the first innings to propel India’s total to 687-6d.
Bangladesh tour of India 2019
The upcoming tour is scheduled to begin with a T20I affair in Delhi on November 3. The opening match will be followed by two more clashes scheduled on November 7 and 10. The second and third T20I matches will be held in Rajkot and Nagpur. The three-match T20I series will then be followed by two Test matches which will begin on November 14 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. To complete the tour, the final match of the series is scheduled for November 22 at the Eden Gardens. The Ganguly–Durjoy Test series will also form a part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship. Team India currently leads the Championship points table while Bangladesh is yet to open its campaign.
